In a late-night patrol operation, the Rajkot Rural Police uncovered a violent dispute leading to multiple arrests. The incident came to light after officers discovered a spent bullet casing and weapons in a speeding vehicle.
Patrol Interception Reveals Weapons Cache
The sequence of events began on the night of January 6, when a police team from Vinchhiya was conducting routine patrols. Their attention was drawn to three cars moving at high speed on the road connecting Vinchhiya to Ori village. Acting swiftly, the officers managed to intercept and search all three vehicles.
During the search, the police found five individuals inside the cars. More alarmingly, their inspection yielded two cartridges—one live and one spent casing—along with two weapons. One of the firearms was licensed, while the other was an illegal weapon. All these items were immediately seized and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for analysis, as confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dr Naveen Chakravarthy.
Interrogation Uncovers Firing Incident Over Contract
The five men were taken into custody and brought to the Vinchhiya police station for detailed questioning. Under interrogation, they disclosed that a firing incident had occurred shortly before their interception. This violent episode was allegedly triggered by a dispute over a "contract" work. The police have stated that the specific details and nature of this contract are currently under active investigation.
Based on the revelations, the police have registered a case against a total of nine individuals from two rival groups. ASP Chakravarthy stated that all nine have been booked for charges including unlawful assembly, rioting, and relevant sections of the Arms Act. Furthermore, four of the accused face the more severe charge of attempt to murder.
Arrests Made and Hunt Launched for Fugitives
The police have successfully arrested five accused in connection with the case. They have been identified as Laghu Naj Dhadhal, Pratap Valku Khachhar, Dhruvraj Rajesh Dhadhal, Jayvant Jilu Dhadhal, and Ranjeet Jilu Dhadhal.
However, the investigation has widened, and a manhunt is underway for four members of the rival group who are currently absconding. The police are searching for Kuldeep Shivraj Khachhar, Devendra Boriya, Lalo Jiva Govaliya, and Jaydip Patgeer. The Rajkot Rural Police continue their probe to unravel the full extent of the conflict and the contract dispute at its core.
