Major Drug Bust in Andhra Pradesh: Police Seize 500 Kg Cannabis, Arrest Two Peddlers

Interception and Arrest Details
The police team successfully stopped the SUV and a accompanying bike as the vehicles were en route from Odisha to Munchangiputtu. During the interception, three individuals managed to flee the scene, evading capture. However, two suspects were taken into custody and identified as K Surendra and Subhash, both hailing from Nandapur in Koraput district of Odisha.
Upon searching the SUV, authorities discovered multiple packets containing dry cannabis, with the total weight estimated at around 500 kg. Preliminary investigations indicate that the gang had sourced the hemp from Odisha and intended to distribute it across various parts of Andhra Pradesh, highlighting a cross-state drug trafficking network.
Additional Anti-Drug Operation in Anakapalle
In a related development underscoring the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crimes, the Anakapalle district police have detained a habitual drug offender under the stringent Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS Act). The accused, M Rajasekhar, a native of Gabbada under Narsipatnam mandal in the district, has been implicated in three prior cases involving the illegal trade of ganja under the NDPS Act.
To prevent his continued involvement in drug trafficking activities, Rajasekhar has been placed in preventive custody and subsequently sent to Vizag central prison. This action reflects the authorities' commitment to curbing the menace of narcotics by targeting repeat offenders and disrupting their operations.
