A devastating road accident on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway 9 in Moradabad claimed six lives and left five others critically injured on Sunday afternoon. The fatal collision occurred when a speeding Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation bus rammed into an e-rickshaw carrying passengers who were returning home from a wedding reception.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The tragic incident took place around 3:15 PM near Moradabad, when the UPSRTC bus from Meerut depot violently hit the e-rickshaw from behind. According to eyewitness accounts, the impact was so severe that the e-rickshaw was completely destroyed, with some passengers being thrown approximately 15 feet away from the collision site.
Moradabad City Superintendent of Police Kumar Ranvijay Singh confirmed that the bus driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. Police have seized the bus and launched a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances that led to this tragedy.
Victims and Medical Response
Medical professionals treating the victims reported that most fatalities resulted from severe head and facial injuries sustained during the collision. The deceased have been identified as five members of the same family from Abdullapur village under Kundarki police limits: Seema Devi (35), Aarti Rani (20), Abhay Kumar (15), Suman Devo (30), and Ananya (10). The e-rickshaw driver, Sanju Singh (30), also lost his life in the tragic accident.
The victims were returning from a wedding ceremony in Raftapur village when their journey ended in tragedy. The five critically injured individuals are currently receiving medical treatment, with their conditions described as serious by hospital authorities.
