7 Men Charged in Bristol Child Sexual Exploitation Case

Major Child Exploitation Case Rocks Bristol Community

In a shocking development that has sent waves through the community, seven men stand accused of committing more than 40 serious offences against 11 teenagers in what authorities are calling a major child sexual exploitation case in Bristol.

The alleged crimes took place over a three-year period between 2022 and 2025, targeting victims who were in their mid to late teens during the time of the offences. The case represents one of the most significant child protection investigations in recent Bristol history.

Police Investigation and Arrest Timeline

According to police statements, the investigation into group-based sexual abuse in the city began in late 2023. The breakthrough came in April 2024 when all seven suspects were initially arrested and released on bail.

However, in a dramatic turn of events, the men were detained again yesterday and are scheduled to appear before Bristol Magistrates' Court this morning to face the extensive list of charges.

The Accused and Their Charges

The seven men facing prosecution come from diverse backgrounds and face a range of serious allegations:

Mohamed Arafe, a 19-year-old Syrian national, confronts six counts of child sexual exploitation and one charge of sexual assault. Additionally, he faces two drug-related charges for supplying cocaine and ecstasy.

Sina Omari, a 20-year-old Iranian, stands accused of two rape charges, five child sexual exploitation counts, two charges of making indecent photos of children, and two drug supply charges involving cocaine and ecstasy.

Wadie Sharaf, 21, also from Syria, faces one count of rape, one count of attempted rape, three sexual assault charges, and one count of sexual activity with a child.

Hussain Bashar, a 19-year-old British citizen, has been charged with one count of rape.

Mohammed Kurdi, 21, also British, faces two rape charges, two child sexual exploitation counts, and two drug supply charges for ecstasy and cannabis.

Sardam Ahmed, a 19-year-old Iraqi, confronts four rape charges, one child sexual exploitation count, one charge of distributing indecent photos of children, and two drug supply charges for cocaine and ecstasy.

Ihab Al-Eisawi, 26, from Egypt, stands accused of two rape charges and one count of sexual assault.

Six of the seven accused individuals are listed as residents of Bristol, while Sardam Ahmed is described as having no fixed address.

Community Response and Victim Support

Police authorities have confirmed that comprehensive safeguarding measures and support services have been made available to all victims affected by these alleged crimes. The scale of the exploitation has prompted significant concern among community leaders and child protection advocates.

Superintendent Deepak Kenth acknowledged that the case would come as a "huge shock to our communities" but emphasized the police force's commitment to combating child sexual exploitation in the city.

"We've held events in Bristol city centre and continue to work with hotels, taxi drivers, and other businesses, to raise awareness about the signs of exploitation and the need to report any concerns or issues to the police," Kenth stated.

The police official further emphasized their "tireless" efforts to prevent such crimes and protect vulnerable young people in the community. The case highlights the ongoing challenges authorities face in detecting and preventing organized child exploitation networks.

As the legal proceedings begin, the Bristol community awaits further developments in what promises to be a closely watched case with significant implications for child protection policies and law enforcement strategies against sexual exploitation.
