Major Drug Bust Rocks Northern Andhra Pradesh

In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, law enforcement authorities in northern Andhra Pradesh have made substantial progress against drug peddlers. Over the past two days, police operations resulted in nine arrests and the seizure of 840 kilograms of ganja with an estimated street value exceeding ₹3 crore.

Massive Haul in ASR District Operation

The Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district police executed a major operation that led to the confiscation of approximately 760 kilograms of dry ganja. Acting on credible intelligence, officers conducted a targeted raid near Varthanapalle, falling under the Annavaram police station jurisdiction.

During this carefully planned operation, authorities successfully intercepted and seized 25 bags containing the banned substance. The police team managed to apprehend five suspects directly involved in the smuggling operation. However, two individuals managed to escape from the scene during the confrontation.

In addition to the narcotics seizure, law enforcement officials confiscated one SUV vehicle and multiple mobile phones from the arrested drug peddlers. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused had sourced the cannabis from neighboring Odisha state, with intentions to distribute it across various locations.

Vizag City Operation Nets Additional Contraband

In a separate but related development, the Anandapuram police in Visakhapatnam city conducted another successful anti-narcotics operation. This team seized approximately 80 kilograms of dry cannabis and arrested four individuals who were transporting the illegal substance in an SUV near Vellanki locality.

The police have officially identified the arrested persons as K Srinu, D Ramana Murthy, V Suribabu, and S Lovaraju. Initial investigation findings reveal that this particular gang had procured the cannabis from various areas within Odisha's Malkangiri district, confirming a pattern of interstate drug smuggling operations.

Ongoing Investigations and Manhunt

Police authorities have confirmed that investigations are actively continuing in both cases. Special attention is being given to tracking down the two absconding suspects who managed to flee during the ASR district operation. Law enforcement agencies are employing multiple strategies to apprehend the remaining individuals involved in these drug trafficking networks.

The successful operations highlight the increasing vigilance of Andhra Pradesh police against narcotics smuggling, particularly focusing on the interstate drug trade between Odisha and Andhra Pradesh. Police officials have emphasized their commitment to completely dismantling these smuggling networks and preventing the distribution of illegal substances in the region.
