The central government on Friday notified the appointment of A K Preetha, a practising lawyer at the Kerala High Court, as an additional judge of the court for a term of two years from the date she assumes office.
Previous Recommendation
The Supreme Court collegium had recommended her name for the appointment on April 14, nearly a year after the high court collegium had recommended her. With this appointment, the Kerala High Court will now have 39 judges.
Background of A K Preetha
Preetha, a native of Peermade, is the daughter of the late Advocate B R Aravindan Nair and Krishnamma. She obtained her law degree from Kerala Law Academy, Thiruvananthapuram, and enrolled as an advocate in 1997. She has 29 years of experience practising before the high court, labour court, and industrial tribunal.
