Ludhiana police have registered a case against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader RK Bonny, his brother Nonny, their father Ravi Kumar, mother Jyoti, Bablu, and five unidentified persons in connection with a firing incident that occurred on June 19 over a parking dispute in Dr Ambedkar Nagar, Model Town. The FIR was filed on July 7, 18 days after the incident, following the emergence of a video showing the firing. Questions are being raised about the delay in police action.
Victim's Complaint Details Assault and Firing
The complainant, Mamta, stated that on June 19, her husband Lakhbir Singh had parked his truck outside their house on the road in front of Ramlila Park. The suspects, allegedly holding a grudge, began a dispute with him. Mamta alleged that the suspects brutally assaulted her and later opened fire at her. She managed to escape and save her life. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act against the accused.
Police Investigation Underway
ASI Avtar Singh confirmed that after registering the case, further investigation has been launched. The police are probing the roles of all accused, including RK Bonny, who on his Facebook page described himself as district in-charge of the Nasha Mukti Morcha. The delay in filing the FIR has sparked criticism, with many questioning why action was not taken earlier despite the incident occurring on June 19. A post-mortem examination of the victim will be conducted after the arrival of the family, as per police sources.

The incident has raised concerns about law and order in the area, with residents demanding swift justice. The involvement of a political leader has added to the controversy. The police have assured that the investigation will be thorough and all accused will be brought to book. Further details are awaited as the probe continues.
