Activist Seeks Brain-Mapping Test for Dharmasthala Mass Burial Accused
Mangaluru: Activist Girish Mattannavar has submitted a petition to the Special Investigation Team (SIT), seeking a brain-mapping test on CN Chinnayya, the prime accused in the alleged Dharmasthala mass burial case. This follows Chinnayya's writ petition before the high court claiming that he was merely a pawn in a larger conspiracy to defame the holy town of Dharmasthala.
In his representation to the SIT, Mattannavar also sought police protection for Chinnayya and his family, and called for an investigation into those allegedly behind what he termed false statements and a larger conspiracy to derail the probe.
Mattannavar alleged that Chinnayya, in a petition filed before the High Court on June 10, furnished false and fabricated information. He claimed that Chinnayya had named several individuals involved in campaigns seeking justice in the Dharmasthala Sowjanya case and other cases, including Mahesh Shetty Thimarody, Vittal Gowda, Jayanth T, Rama Nagaraj, actor Prakash Raj, YouTuber Sameer MD, Ajay Anchan, Abhishek and Dinesh, thereby harming their reputation.
He further alleged that the inclusion of the names of Prakash Raj and Sameer MD appeared aimed at disturbing communal harmony and creating social unrest. According to Mattannavar, influential persons connected to the alleged crimes could be behind the misinformation campaign.
The activist contended that Chinnayya’s recent claims contradicted statements he had earlier made before the court and police authorities. He alleged that the statements circulated through the media amounted to a misuse of the judicial process, and could also constitute a violation of Chinnayya’s bail conditions. Accordingly, he urged the SIT to seek cancellation of his bail.
Mattannavar also sought a detailed investigation into Chinnayya’s allegation that he and other activists had received Rs 200 crore to defame the Dharmasthala temple and persons associated with it, describing the claim as baseless and intended to mislead the public.
Pointing out that Chinnayya had earlier expressed willingness to undergo brain mapping in connection with the mass burial allegations, Mattannavar demanded that the test now be conducted. He also offered to undergo a brain-mapping examination himself, and suggested that the process be telecast live to ensure transparency.
He further urged the SIT to identify those who may have influenced Chinnayya to make such statements and to provide him and his family adequate police protection, citing concerns that his life could be at risk.
Copies of the petition have been submitted to the state home minister, the director general of police, head of the SIT, and the superintendent of police, Dakshina Kannada.
