Flying Officer Divyanshi Singh, hailing from the narrow lanes of Chhapra, has scripted history by becoming the first former National Defence Academy (NDA) woman cadet to be commissioned into the ground duty (logistics) branch of the Indian Air Force (IAF). Her journey from a small town to the proud ranks of the IAF exemplifies determination, opportunity, and achievement.
Historic Achievement at Air Force Academy
During the combined graduation parade at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal on Saturday, Divyanshi was honored with the President's Plaque by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for securing the first position among the 'Ground Duty' branches. She was among 37 women who were commissioned into the IAF on that day.
Inspiration and Opportunity
Her father, a serving Junior Warrant Officer in the IAF, inspired her to pursue a career in the armed forces. When the government made the historic decision to open NDA doors to women, Divyanshi seized the opportunity. She successfully cleared the entrance examination and set her sights on joining the Air Force.
Exemplary Training and Leadership
Throughout her training, Divyanshi distinguished herself through leadership, discipline, and commitment. Her exceptional performance earned her the prestigious appointment of Cadet Quarter Master Sergeant, a role that reflected her capabilities and the confidence she inspired among fellow cadets.
Transformation Over Three Years
Over three transformative years at the NDA, the young woman from Chhapra evolved into a confident, accomplished, and service-ready officer. Her achievement marks a significant milestone for gender equality in the Indian armed forces.
