Police in Vadodara suspect that an Afghan PhD scholar died from cardiac arrest. The incident occurred in the Fatehgunj area of the city.
Body Found After Friends Raise Alarm
Friends discovered the body of Bainullah Ziya late on Saturday night. They grew concerned when he did not answer repeated knocks on his apartment door.
The friends immediately alerted the local police. Officers arrived at the scene and found Ziya lying unresponsive inside his residence.
Medical personnel declared him dead at the location. The police then sent the body for a post-mortem examination.
Preliminary Findings Point to Cardiac Arrest
Initial post-mortem results indicate cardiac arrest as the probable cause of death. However, authorities are not jumping to conclusions.
A senior police officer explained the situation. "We found some medicines at the scene," the officer stated. "So we collected viscera samples for forensic analysis."
The officer emphasized caution. "There are no immediate signs of foul play," he said. "But we await the forensic report to rule out other possibilities."
Repatriation Process Initiated
Officials from the Afghan embassy coordinated with local authorities. They worked together to arrange for the repatriation of the body.
The mortal remains were flown to Delhi on Sunday. From the national capital, the body was scheduled for an onward flight to Afghanistan.
Investigation Remains Ongoing
Police confirmed that further investigation is currently underway. The case remains open pending the final post-mortem and forensic reports.
Authorities are treating the matter with due diligence. They want to ensure all aspects are thoroughly examined before closing the investigation.
