Agra Man Arrested for Allegedly Murdering Friend Over Rs 34,000 Debt Dispute

In a shocking incident from Agra, a man has been arrested for allegedly strangling his 29-year-old friend to death over a financial dispute involving Rs 34,000. The body was reportedly dumped under the Khari river bridge on the Gwalior highway, according to police statements made on Monday.

Details of the Crime

The victim, identified as Rahul Singh, was a carpenter residing in the Ekta police station area of Agra district. Police allege that he was lured out of his home on February 3 under the false pretense of attending a wedding. It was during this outing that he was strangled to death by his friend, Deepak Kumar, aged 31, along with two accomplices.

Rahul Singh's body was discovered the following morning, prompting immediate police action. A case was officially registered at the Iradat Nagar police station based on a complaint filed by Rahul's brother, Sachin. The charges were filed under BNS Section 103(1), which pertains to murder.

Investigation and Arrest

Authorities revealed that Rahul had accompanied Deepak Kumar, who also worked as a carpenter and was previously employed with the victim, to what was supposed to be a wedding function. Following the crime, Deepak, along with his associates Ravindra and Sunny, went missing, which raised significant suspicion among investigators.

Acting on crucial leads, police managed to arrest Deepak Kumar late on Sunday night. He has since been sent to jail as the investigation continues. During interrogation, Deepak reportedly confessed to the murder, shedding light on the motive behind the brutal act.

Motive Behind the Murder

According to police statements, the root cause of the conflict was a debt of Rs 34,000 that Ravindra owed to Rahul Singh. As Rahul began persistently demanding repayment, Ravindra grew increasingly annoyed. This frustration led Ravindra, Deepak, and Sunny to conspire and plot Rahul's elimination.

The accused allegedly strangled Rahul to death and then disposed of his body under the Khari river bridge. This location was chosen in an attempt to make the death appear as an accident, potentially to mislead investigators and avoid detection.

Ongoing Police Efforts

Shamshabad ACP Ameesha confirmed that efforts are actively underway to apprehend the remaining accused individuals, Ravindra and Sunny. The police are pursuing all available leads to ensure that all parties involved in this heinous crime are brought to justice.

This case highlights the severe consequences that can arise from financial disputes and underscores the importance of resolving conflicts through legal and peaceful means. The Agra police continue to investigate the matter thoroughly to uncover any additional details related to the incident.
