Ahmedabad Cafe Owner Files Police Complaint After Manager, Staff Steal High-End Coffee Machine
A 29-year-old cafe owner in Ahmedabad has filed a formal complaint with the Gujarat University police station, alleging that his manager and another staff member broke into his establishment using a duplicate key and fled with valuable items, including a premium coffee machine.
Details of the Theft Incident
According to the complaint, Abhishek Harjani, a resident of Bodakdev, operates Nook Cafe located on HL College Road in Navrangpura. The cafe typically functions daily from 8:00 AM until midnight. Harjani reported that at approximately 7:45 AM on Tuesday, he received a phone call from Kartik Patel, who manages the daily operations, alerting him to a suspected theft at the premises.
Upon arriving at the cafe, Harjani discovered that several items were missing:
- A high-end coffee-making machine
- A Lenovo laptop
- Cash from the counter
After reviewing the CCTV footage from the establishment, Harjani allegedly observed manager Sachin Singh and staffer Sudhanshu Ray entering the cafe using a duplicate key and removing the items.
Value of Stolen Property and Police Response
Police officials have confirmed that the stolen property includes:
- A coffee machine valued at approximately Rs 5 lakh
- A laptop worth around Rs 5,000
- Cash amounting to Rs 1,000
When the cafe owner attempted to contact the two employees, they did not respond to his calls or messages. This lack of communication prompted Harjani to formally approach the police and file a complaint.
A case of theft has been officially registered with the Gujarat University police station. Authorities have initiated a search operation to locate and apprehend the accused individuals. The investigation is currently ongoing as police work to recover the stolen items and bring the perpetrators to justice.
