Ahmedabad Man Confesses to Murdering Former Fiancée After Engagement Termination
In a chilling incident that has shocked the city of Ahmedabad, a 23-year-old man allegedly murdered his 17-year-old former fiancée just two days after her family called off their engagement. The accused, identified as Uwais Pathan, reportedly made a calm phone call to the victim's father confessing to the crime before surrendering himself at a police station.
Calm Confession and Surrender
On Wednesday night, Pathan, a resident of Saiyedwadi in Vatva, allegedly called the father of his former fiancée and delivered horrifying news in an eerily composed voice. According to police reports, he stated: "I killed your daughter." He then proceeded to share the location where he committed the crime—Kankaria Gate No. 6—before walking into the Maninagar police station and turning himself in.
Assistant Commissioner of Police N K Vyas of J Division confirmed that Pathan has been arrested, and the girl's father filed a formal murder complaint on Thursday. The police investigation indicates that the termination of the engagement served as the primary trigger for this violent act.
Background of the Troubled Relationship
The complaint reveals that the young couple had been engaged for approximately six months and met frequently during this period. However, the 17-year-old girl eventually expressed her desire to end the relationship, citing Pathan's abusive behavior, constant suspicion, and use of foul language as her reasons.
On Monday, when the engagement was officially called off, Pathan allegedly created a disturbance at the victim's home. After his family was informed of the decision, the girl began receiving threatening phone messages warning that Pathan "would not let her live." Despite attempts to resolve the situation, the relationship remained strained, and the girl was advised to avoid communication with him.
Escalating Threats and Tragic Outcome
The father alleged that Pathan continued to call and threaten his daughter persistently. The situation reached its tragic climax on Wednesday evening when Pathan visited the girl's home around 9:30 pm and persuaded her to come out with him "to settle the matter."
At approximately 10:24 pm, while at work, the father received the chilling confession call from Pathan. He immediately contacted home, learned about Pathan's earlier visit, and rushed to the location mentioned by the accused. There, the family discovered the girl's body with severe head injuries, according to the complaint details.
Police officials noted that Pathan had previously warned the girl's family of "consequences" if the engagement was terminated. The investigation continues as authorities examine all aspects of this tragic case that highlights concerning patterns of domestic violence and relationship conflicts.
