Ahmedabad Murder Solved: Suspect Arrested in Revenge Killing Case
In a swift police operation, a suspect has been apprehended in connection with a brutal murder in Ahmedabad's Vasna area, which authorities have identified as a revenge killing. The incident occurred early Tuesday morning, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Fatal Attack
Hitesh Meghwal, the victim, was stabbed to death while sleeping outside his home in Bharwadvas, Vasna, between 2 am and 2:30 am on Tuesday. The assailant, taking advantage of the darkness, targeted Meghwal in his abdomen before fleeing the scene. Police reports indicate that the attacker wore a jacket and a cap to conceal his identity during the crime.
Rapid Police Response and Arrest
Following a complaint filed by Meghwal's sister, crime branch teams in Ahmedabad launched an intensive investigation. Utilizing local intelligence and field surveillance, officers quickly spread out across the city. Within hours of the murder, based on crucial leads, they traced and detained the suspect, Vinod Rangwal, aged 28, near the rear gate of VS Hospital.
Confession and Motive Revealed
During questioning, Rangwal confessed to the murder and disclosed his motive. He stated that he killed Meghwal to avenge the death of his brother, Shravan Rangwal, whose body was discovered near Chandranagar Bridge approximately a year and a half ago. Rangwal harbored a grudge, suspecting Meghwal's involvement in his brother's death. Police revealed that Rangwal arrived at Meghwal's residence around 1:30 am, equipped with a knife, which he used to commit the crime.
Legal Proceedings and Charges
A murder case has been officially registered at the Vasna police station. The charges are being filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Gujarat Police Act, reflecting the severity of the offense and the application of updated legal frameworks.
