Ahmedabad Police Officers Injured in Violent Confrontation During Drug Raid

In a shocking incident on Friday afternoon, a team from the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch was violently attacked during a raid targeting suspected MD drugs near Bhat village. The confrontation left two police personnel injured after a suspect allegedly used a car as a weapon and attacked officers with a large knife.

Dramatic Events Unfold During Patrol Operation

The incident occurred around 3:45 PM near Ramji Mandir in Bhat village, on an open plot adjacent to a hotel. Police Sub-Inspector Rajeshkumar Sharma, along with other personnel, was conducting patrol operations in private vehicles when the team observed suspicious activity. They noticed two men on a motorcycle engaged in conversation with the occupants of a parked car, prompting immediate police intervention.

When officers moved in to investigate, the motorcyclists attempted to flee the scene but were quickly apprehended by the alert police team. However, the situation escalated dramatically when the driver of the car accelerated directly toward the officers in what police later described as a deliberate attempt to cause death or grievous injury.

Violent Assault Leaves Officers Wounded

Constable Ramesh Kumar was struck by the accelerating vehicle and dragged several feet, suffering significant injuries to his forehead. The car eventually crashed into a nearby wall, at which point the passenger fled on foot and was pursued by officers. Meanwhile, Sub-Inspector Sharma attempted to apprehend the driver, who responded by drawing a large knife and launching a vicious attack.

Sharma suffered deep cuts to his left palm and left leg while defending himself against the armed assailant. The suspect then allegedly lunged at Sharma's abdomen, slicing through his uniform shirt in what could have been a fatal blow. When Constable Ramesh Kumar rushed to assist his colleague, he was allegedly stabbed in the chest and also sustained injuries to both hands during the struggle.

Suspects Apprehended and Evidence Recovered

The violent suspect was eventually overpowered by the remaining officers, who seized the large knife used in the attack. During a search of the area, police recovered a plastic pouch allegedly containing MD drugs, which investigators believe was part of an ongoing drug transaction that prompted the initial police intervention.

CID Crime has registered a comprehensive case under multiple sections of law, including the NDPS Act for drug offenses, along with charges of attempt to murder, causing hurt to deter a public servant from duty, and obstruction of a public servant in the discharge of official functions. The case was filed based on Sub-Inspector Sharma's official complaint detailing the violent encounter.

Arrests Made and Investigation Continues

Police have arrested three individuals in connection with the incident: Salu Dhor of Rajpur in Mehsana district, Nirav Chaudhary of Surat, and Nikunji Thakor of Gandhinagar. However, a fourth accused identified as Kalpesh Parmar remains at large as the investigation continues. Authorities are pursuing multiple leads to apprehend the remaining suspect and uncover the full extent of the drug operation that led to the violent confrontation.

The injured officers received immediate medical attention and are currently recovering from their wounds. This incident highlights the dangerous conditions police personnel often face while combating drug trafficking operations in urban areas, and has prompted increased security measures during similar operations in the Ahmedabad region.
