Ahmedabad Crime Branch Apprehends Notorious Gang Members in Dramatic Operation

The Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Ahmedabad City Police has successfully arrested two key members of the infamous Ravi Godara gang, following an intense car chase that spanned several kilometers across the city. This operation marks a significant victory in the fight against organized crime, with the suspects wanted by Rajasthan Police in connection with a serious interstate gun trafficking racket.

Details of the Arrest and Suspects

Police identified the arrested individuals as Aman, also known as Bacha (Ehsanali Saiyad), aged 25, a resident of Bakra Mandi, Sajid Eda, under the jurisdiction of Kishorpura Police Station in Kota, Rajasthan; and Suhaib, alias Chintu (Firozkhan Pathan), aged 26, from Patanpol, under the jurisdiction of Ketuni Pol Police Station, also in Kota. Both men have extensive criminal histories, with more than 20 offences to their names, including organized extortion, attempted murder, targeted shootings, and violations under the Arms Act.

The High-Stakes Chase and Investigation

According to Inspector IN Ghasura, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch received credible intelligence indicating that these gangsters, who were on the run from Rajasthan Police, had entered Ahmedabad with the intention of expanding their illegal operations into Gujarat. Specifically, they were targeting the extortion sector and seeking to establish a local network. The police team conducted thorough technical analysis and leveraged human sources to identify phone numbers and vehicle registrations linked to the suspects.

On the intervening night of February 9 and 10, a tactical operation was launched, culminating in a high-speed car chase that covered several kilometers between Vasna and Vejalpur areas. After a relentless pursuit lasting approximately seven hours, the police managed to apprehend the duo. This operation has been described by authorities as a major blow to organized crime, disrupting the gang's plans to spread their criminal activities in the state.

Background and Criminal Activities

The Ravi Godara gang is notorious for its involvement in various serious crimes across multiple states. Intelligence reports suggest that the two arrested individuals had recently integrated into this network and migrated to Ahmedabad with the explicit goal of identifying local targets and extending their extortion web. Their arrest highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to combat interstate criminal syndicates that pose a threat to public safety.

Coordination with Rajasthan Police and Next Steps

The Ahmedabad Crime Branch is currently coordinating closely with the Rajasthan Police to ensure a seamless transfer of the suspects. Following the completion of all preliminary legal formalities in Ahmedabad, the accused will be handed over to the Kota Police for further investigation and prosecution. This collaboration underscores the importance of inter-state cooperation in tackling organized crime networks that operate across jurisdictional boundaries.

This incident serves as a reminder of the persistent challenges faced by law enforcement in curbing gang-related activities and the critical role of intelligence-led policing in preempting criminal expansions. The successful operation in Ahmedabad is expected to aid in dismantling further elements of the Ravi Godara gang and preventing future illicit endeavors in the region.
