Ahmedabad Police Crack Down on Illegal Liquor Trade in Gomtipur Raid

In a significant operation against illicit alcohol trade, Ahmedabad police conducted a raid in the Gomtipur area on Saturday, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of a large quantity of liquor valued at over Rs 2.1 lakh. The police action unfolded as the accused were allegedly caught red-handed while unloading small bottles from cartons stored inside two parked two-wheelers.

Details of the Arrest and Seizure

The arrested persons have been identified as Naresh Chauhan (28) and Sushant Sharma (22), both residents of Ahmedabad. During the raid, officers recovered a total of 334 sealed bottles of liquor, suspected to have been smuggled from another state. Additionally, two sample bottles were taken for forensic examination to determine the origin and quality of the contraband.

Along with the liquor, police confiscated two two-wheelers and two mobile phones from the accused. Preliminary investigations suggest that Chauhan and Sharma had arrived at the location to collect the consignment from a local supplier. Meanwhile, a third suspect managed to flee the scene and remains at large. Authorities believe this absconding individual was involved in the distribution network of the illegal liquor.
