Tragic Suicide of Ahmedabad Teenager During Board Exams
In a deeply distressing incident in Ahmedabad, a 17-year-old boy appearing for his Class 12 board exams allegedly died by suicide on Saturday afternoon. The tragedy unfolded after he was locked inside his 15-year-old girlfriend's home in the Chiloda area by her father, who discovered him there unexpectedly.
Police Register Accidental Death Case
Chiloda police have officially registered an accidental death case and are conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances. According to Inspector S J Chauhan, the preliminary findings reveal a sequence of events that led to this heartbreaking outcome.
The 15-year-old girl, a Class 10 board student from the same school as the boy, was alone at home. Her father had stepped out to visit her mother, who is currently hospitalized. Seizing this opportunity, the boy, who lived nearby, went to meet her.
Unexpected Return and Confinement
The situation took a drastic turn when the girl's father returned home unexpectedly. Upon finding the boy inside, he reprimanded both teenagers. He then asked his daughter to step out of the room before locking the boy inside and immediately calling his family to inform them of the situation.
While the boy's relatives were on their way to the house, a tragic decision was made. The boy allegedly used a sari to hang himself from the ceiling fan in the locked room. When the room was eventually opened, he was found unresponsive and was later declared dead at the hospital.
Background of the Relationship
Inspector Chauhan disclosed that the girl's family had previously objected to the teenagers' relationship and had taken steps to restrict their interactions. This context adds a layer of complexity to the incident, highlighting familial tensions.
Both students were in the midst of their crucial board examinations, a period already marked by significant stress and pressure for young individuals. The police have recorded statements from family members of both parties to gather a comprehensive understanding of the events.
Ongoing Investigation
"At present, we registered an accidental death case. Further investigation is underway," stated Inspector Chauhan, emphasizing that the police are meticulously examining all aspects of the case to determine the full scope of responsibility and any potential legal actions.
This incident underscores the critical need for awareness and support systems for teenagers, especially during high-pressure academic periods like board exams. It also raises questions about parental intervention and communication in adolescent relationships.
The local community in Ahmedabad has been left in shock, with many calling for greater sensitivity and preventive measures to avoid such tragedies in the future. As the investigation progresses, authorities are urging the public to respect the privacy of the grieving families during this difficult time.
