Ahmedabad Trader Files Police Complaint Over Assault and Death Threats in Failed Land Deal

A 42-year-old trader from Ahmedabad has lodged a formal complaint with the Satellite police, alleging assault and death threats by three individuals. The incident stems from a dispute over a multi-crore land deal that collapsed, escalating into a violent confrontation.

Details of the Failed Land Transaction

According to the complaint filed on Thursday, the trader, a resident of Ramdevnagar in the Satellite area, acted as an intermediary in a land deal finalized in November 2024. The transaction involved 13 bigha of land located in a village within Kadi taluka, with an estimated value of Rs 26 crore.

The complainant informed police that he received Rs 8.39 crore from a buyer and subsequently transferred the amount to two sellers. However, the deal could not be completed as the sellers were later incarcerated in connection with another case, and the necessary land documents were never executed.

Escalation of the Dispute

Following the failure of the transaction, the buyer allegedly began demanding a refund from the complainant, holding him responsible for the collapse. The situation intensified on March 23, when the buyer, accompanied by two associates, allegedly arrived at the parking area of the complainant's residential society and summoned him down.

During the confrontation, the trio is accused of verbally abusing the trader and insisting on immediate repayment of the money. When the complainant objected to the language used, two of the accused allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with him, with one individual slapping him. The complainant further reported that the main accused issued a death threat before departing the scene.

The altercation attracted attention from other residents, prompting the accused to flee the location.

Police Action and Investigation

Satellite police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, citing charges of causing hurt, use of abusive language, criminal intimidation, and abetment. An investigation has been initiated to probe the allegations thoroughly.

This incident highlights the risks associated with high-value real estate transactions and underscores the importance of legal safeguards in such dealings.
