School Van Crashes into BRTS Railing in Kankaria
The first accident took place around 8 am near the Khodiyarnagar bridge in Kankaria. A school van from Divan Ballubhai School, carrying 10 students, rammed into the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) railing. The impact was significant, damaging the van's front section and shattering its windscreen completely. Miraculously, none of the students sustained any injuries, a relief for parents and authorities alike.
Preliminary police inquiries revealed that the van was allegedly being driven in a rash manner, with overspeeding identified as a primary factor. Further investigation uncovered a compliance issue: the van did not have a commercial number plate, which is mandatory for all school transport vehicles under transport norms. Instead, it bore a private number plate, raising serious questions about adherence to safety regulations and oversight in school transportation.
Car Collision in Nava Vadaj Leads to Vehicle Overturn
In a separate incident during the early hours of Friday, two cars collided in the Nava Vadaj area. The force of the impact caused one of the vehicles to flip over, resulting in visible damage and necessitating emergency response. The driver of the overturned car sustained injuries and was promptly rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Police officials indicated that overspeeding appeared to be the likely cause in this case as well, mirroring the pattern observed in the morning accident.
