A 20-year-old air hostess student in Bengaluru has alleged that she has been repeatedly harassed by three men on a scooter, who regularly followed, teased, and intimidated her during her daily commute from her home to the bus stop. The distressing incidents have left her fearful of stepping out alone.
Incident Details
According to the complaint, the accused, residents of the same village as the victim, would follow her daily on a scooter while she was on her way to and from college. The main accused, aged 22, along with his friends, would make lewd comments and intimidate her. On April 19, they allegedly made several obscene remarks, which caused her significant distress.
On April 23, the situation escalated dramatically. After missing her usual bus around 9 am, she called her father, who instructed her to return home so he could drop her to college in his car. While walking back, the accused approached her from behind on a scooter and struck her on the back. The victim described feeling shocked and humiliated by the assault.
Police Action
The victim immediately rushed home and informed her family. With their support, she filed a complaint at the Bagalur police station. A case has been registered under BNS Sections 74 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 75 (sexual harassment). The Bagalur station police have detained the accused for questioning.
Accused's Defense
During interrogation, the main accused claimed that he was in love with the girl and that she had suddenly stopped talking to him. He stated that he was merely trying to stop her and that his hand accidentally touched her back. The police are investigating the matter further.
