Ajmer CID Takes Action Against Illegal Immigration in Pushkar
The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) wing of Ajmer police has officially registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a woman from Thailand and the owner of a hotel in Pushkar. This legal action was taken under the provisions of the Immigration and Foreigners Act of 2025, marking a significant step in the ongoing campaign to address illegal residency by foreign tourists in the district.
Details of the Case and Police Investigation
According to Additional Superintendent of Police (CID) Rajesh Meena, the investigation was initiated following directives from the state government and police headquarters. The campaign specifically targets foreign nationals who are residing in the district without proper authorization or legal documentation.
The case came to light when it was discovered that Kanyaphat Noenhong, a Thai national, arrived at the Muskmelon Hotel and Resort in Pushkar on February 1. During the mandatory online filing of her C-form, which is required for foreign tourists staying in hotels, the hotel management provided incorrect details regarding her visa status. This was done intentionally to conceal the fact that she was staying illegally in India.
Further scrutiny by the CID revealed that the visa number submitted by the hotel actually belonged to a tourist from Uganda, not the Thai woman. This discrepancy raised immediate red flags and prompted a deeper investigation into the matter.
Findings and Legal Consequences
Preliminary investigations conducted by the police have uncovered that Kanyaphat Noenhong has been overstaying in India for approximately two years without a valid visa. Moreover, it was determined that the hotel owner knowingly and deliberately hid this critical information from authorities. This act of concealment is a serious violation of immigration laws and regulations.
The FIR has been formally registered at the Pushkar police station, and Additional SP Meena has issued a stern warning regarding the consequences for anyone found assisting foreign tourists in living illegally within the district. This move underscores the police's commitment to enforcing immigration laws and maintaining legal order.
Broader Implications and Ongoing Campaign
This case is part of a larger, coordinated effort by law enforcement agencies to crack down on illegal immigration and ensure compliance with visa regulations. The registration of the FIR serves as a clear message that such violations will not be tolerated, and legal action will be pursued against all parties involved.
Authorities are urging hotel owners and other stakeholders to adhere strictly to the rules and report any suspicious activities related to foreign tourists. The campaign aims to safeguard national security and uphold the integrity of India's immigration system.
