Akola Police Uncover Homicide Initially Disguised as Natural Death in Village
In a significant breakthrough, the Akola police have successfully cracked a murder case that was initially projected as a natural death in Wai (Mana) village located in Murtijapur taluka. The investigation took a dramatic turn when the post-mortem report directly contradicted the initial claims made by family members, revealing the true cause of death.
Case Emerges from Suspicious Phone Call
According to detailed police sources, the case came to light when complainant Gopal Bhatkar received a phone call from his nephew informing him about the sudden demise of Sanjay Bhatkar. Upon reaching the location, family members persistently insisted that the death was natural, attempting to maintain this narrative. However, sensing potential foul play and inconsistencies in the story, the police decided to initiate a thorough and detailed investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Autopsy Report Provides Crucial Breakthrough
The investigation reached a critical turning point after the autopsy report was completed and analyzed. The medical examination conclusively revealed that the cause of death was "asphyxia due to strangulation". This definitive finding completely ruled out any possibility of natural causes and confirmed the case as a clear homicide. Following this revelation, the Mana police promptly registered an official offence and significantly intensified their investigative efforts.
Accused Apprehended and Confess to Crime
During the intensified investigation, police authorities detained the deceased's nephew, identified as Swapnil, and his sister-in-law, named Sangeeta. Under sustained and rigorous questioning, both accused individuals reportedly confessed to the crime, admitting that they had strangled Sanjay Bhatkar to death. Preliminary investigations strongly indicate that the murder stemmed from an ongoing and unresolved domestic dispute within the family, highlighting the tragic consequences of familial conflicts.
Legal Proceedings and Police Leadership
The accused were formally arrested and subsequently produced before a competent court to face legal proceedings. The entire police operation was carried out under the expert guidance and supervision of Superintendent of Police Archit Chandak and Additional Superintendent of Police B Chandrakant Reddy. The investigation was led on the ground by Mana police station in-charge Ganesh Navkar, whose diligent efforts were instrumental in uncovering the truth behind the initially misrepresented death.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough police work and forensic examination in distinguishing between natural deaths and criminal acts, ensuring justice is served even when attempts are made to conceal the truth.
