Aligarh Police Introduces 'Raah-Veer Scheme' with Rs 25,000 Cash Rewards for Accident Assistance
In a significant initiative aimed at reducing road accident fatalities, Aligarh Police has launched a comprehensive public awareness drive encouraging citizens to assist injured persons during the critical "golden hour" period following accidents. The department is offering a substantial cash reward of Rs 25,000 to individuals who help save lives by ensuring prompt hospital transportation for seriously injured victims.
Government-Backed Initiative to Save Lives
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Aligarh Neeraj Jadaun announced that under the Central Government's 'Raah-Veer Scheme', any person who ensures that a seriously injured accident victim receives timely hospital care will receive both the Rs 25,000 financial reward from the government and an official certificate of appreciation from district police authorities.
"Many accident victims tragically lose their lives due to unnecessary delays in reaching appropriate medical facilities," SSP Jadaun emphasized. "We frequently observe situations where people gather at accident scenes, record videos on their phones, or simply wait for ambulances or police to arrive instead of immediately transporting the injured to hospitals. This hesitation and delay costs precious time that could mean the difference between life and death."
Removing Fear and Promoting Good Samaritan Actions
The police initiative specifically aims to eliminate fear among bystanders and actively promote the role of Good Samaritans in emergency situations. SSP Jadaun provided crucial reassurance to potential helpers, stating: "There is absolutely no reason to fear police intervention when you are helping to save a human life. Individuals assisting accident victims will not face any legal harassment or complications. You can simply inform Police Emergency 112 or contact the concerned Circle Officer after you have helped transport the victim to medical care. All verification processes and formalities will be efficiently handled by district police personnel."
The awareness campaign is being systematically implemented across the entire Aligarh district through various communication channels to encourage timely intervention and substantially reduce preventable deaths on roads.
Valuing Human Life Above All
SSP Jadaun concluded with a powerful appeal to district residents: "There is nothing more valuable than a human life. We urgently request and encourage all residents to act without hesitation when encountering accident situations and help ensure victims reach hospitals immediately. Your timely intervention could literally save someone's life and you will be appropriately recognized and rewarded for your humanitarian action."
The 'Raah-Veer Scheme' represents a proactive approach by law enforcement to leverage community participation in addressing the serious public health challenge of road accident fatalities, particularly focusing on the critical first hour following traumatic incidents when medical intervention is most effective.
