In a horrifying family tragedy captured on CCTV, a 22-year-old man allegedly shot dead his elder brother, grandmother, and uncle, and critically injured his aunt in an Ambala village on Saturday evening. The accused, identified as Abhishek of Bichpari village, reportedly attempted to settle a land feud with gunfire.
Victims and Accused
The deceased have been identified as Sandeep Kumar (40), Isro Devi (in her 90s), and Mahinder Singh (50). Mahinder's wife, Sunita (45), is battling for her life in a hospital. Police are searching for Abhishek, who is on the run.
Incident Details
The triple murder occurred in Bichpari village, Shahzadpur area, approximately 30 kilometers from Ambala. Based on a complaint from Sandeep's wife, Neha, police have registered a case against Abhishek and his parents, Satbir Singh and Usha, under sections 61 (criminal conspiracy), 103(1) (murder) of the BNS, and Section 25 of the Arms Act.
In her complaint, Neha alleged that her father-in-law Satbir and brother-in-law Abhishek sold sand from their portion of land and from Mahinder Singh's land, dividing the proceeds among themselves. “No share was given to uncle Mahinder. My husband and uncle demanded their share of the sand money from Satbir and Abhishek. They had heated arguments over this issue. A scuffle took place on Saturday evening as well, when Abhishek suddenly started shooting with a pistol,” Neha stated.
CCTV footage shows Abhishek firing a semi-automatic pistol at point-blank range. The gun frequently jammed, and he is seen working the slide, chasing down his victims and shooting them as he moved from one part of the house to another. At one point, he nearly rammed the pistol into his aunt's face and shot her. Isro Devi died on the spot, while Mahinder and Sandeep were taken to the hospital but could not be saved.
Community Shock
The gruesome incident has plunged the village into shock and mourning. Residents revealed that the family had been embroiled in disputes over ancestral property and money for some time, but no one imagined it would end in such bloodshed. The elderly grandmother, who had seen three generations of the family living together under one roof, also fell victim to the violence.
Police Investigation
Police investigations indicate that the accused had planned the attack in advance. Officials are probing how Abhishek obtained the pistol and whether it was a licensed weapon. Raids are being conducted to trace the source of the firearm. Abhishek was pursuing a pharmacy course in Bagwali, Panchkula, according to sources. His family members claimed they were unaware that he possessed a weapon.
Abhishek's father, Satbir Singh, a retired health department employee, acknowledged that tensions existed between Abhishek and his elder brother Sandeep and uncle Mahinder for some time over money and property. Satbir alleged that Mahinder often sided with Sandeep, further deepening the rift.
Shahzadpur Station House Officer Om Chand stated that police teams are conducting raids to arrest Abhishek. Forensic experts have collected evidence from the crime scene.
