Ambala Police Apprehends Father-Son Duo from Uttar Pradesh After Fierce Encounter in Mullana
The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA)-I of the Ambala police successfully arrested two criminals hailing from Uttar Pradesh following a dramatic encounter in the Mullana area of the district. The accused, identified as Faryad and his son Usman, residents of Uttar Pradesh, were involved in a grave case of murder and attempt to murder during their attempt to steal buffaloes on the night of March 12 and 13, according to Ambala CIA-I in-charge inspector Harjinder Singh.
Details of the Crime and Police Investigation
Inspector Singh provided a detailed account of the incident, stating, "A man was murdered while another was seriously injured by the accused during a buffalo theft bid in Kalpi village of the Mullana area. Since the occurrence of the crime, the police teams had been patrolling the area intensively to track down the perpetrators." The police had set up a checking post as part of their surveillance efforts.
During the patrol, a suspected biker was signaled to stop at the checking post. However, the individual fled the spot by breaking through barricades, prompting an immediate alert and a high-speed chase by the police. "At some distance, when they approached a kutcha road, the bike fell, and they opened fire at the police party. The police also fired in retaliation in self-defense," explained Singh. In the exchange of fire, one accused was hit in his feet, and the other sustained a leg injury.
Arrest and Ongoing Legal Proceedings
Both accused were subsequently nabbed by the police and rushed to a hospital for medical treatment. They are currently undergoing treatment and will be taken on remand by the CIA-I unit after their discharge from the hospital. Inspector Singh noted that preliminary questioning has revealed that accused Faryad has a significant criminal history, indicating prior involvement in unlawful activities.
The arrest highlights the diligent efforts of the Ambala police in combating serious crimes and ensuring public safety in the region. The case underscores the risks associated with livestock theft and the violent measures some criminals resort to, necessitating robust police action.
