Amritsar: A day after his detention in Assam's Dibrugarh Central Jail under the National Security Act (NSA) ended, Khadoor Sahib MP Amritpal Singh was on Thursday arrested by Punjab Police in the 2023 Ajnala police station attack case.

Arrest and Remand

He was produced before a court in Amritsar virtually, which remanded him to two-day police custody. Amritpal Singh, who heads Waris Punjab De, would remain in the Dibrugarh jail. A special team of Punjab Police reached Dibrugarh on April 21 to execute the arrest.

Legal Confirmation

Amritpal Singh's counsel, Rituraj Singh, confirmed his remand in the FIR filed at Ajnala police station. In February 2023, Amritpal and his armed supporters allegedly broke through barricades, barged into the Ajnala police station on the outskirts of Amritsar, and clashed with officers to secure the release of an aide. The case involves attempt to murder charges.
