The Amritsar police launched Operation Prahaar on Thursday, arresting 72 individuals and seizing a significant cache of drugs, weapons, and stolen property during coordinated raids across the city. The operation, based on specific intelligence inputs, targeted drug traffickers, illegal arms suppliers, extortionists, and other anti-social elements.

Seizures and Preventive Actions

Authorities recovered 1.735 kg of heroin, one illegal pistol, 74 bottles of illicit liquor, Rs 8,000 in cash, and a stolen motorcycle. Additionally, the police initiated 214 preventive actions against habitual offenders and suspicious persons to maintain law and order. The raids were conducted simultaneously at multiple locations, reflecting a strategic approach to dismantle criminal networks.

Police Commissioner's Statement

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar stated that the crackdown is part of the Commissionerate Police’s broader strategy to dismantle organized criminal networks, curb narcotics trafficking, and strengthen public safety. “The drive was carried out simultaneously at multiple locations based on intelligence inputs. We have adopted a zero-tolerance policy against crime, and similar intelligence-led enforcement drives will continue,” he said.
