AP High Court Chief Justice Addresses Evolving Legal Framework on Republic Day

In a significant address during the 77th Republic Day celebrations at the Andhra Pradesh High Court premises in Vijayawada, Chief Justice Dheeraj Singh Thakur highlighted the dynamic expansion of laws into emerging areas. The Chief Justice noted that contemporary legal frameworks are increasingly encompassing domains such as environmental protection, personal privacy, data protection, artificial intelligence, and national security. This evolution, he stated, mirrors the changing legal landscape in response to technological advancements and societal needs.

Republic Day Ceremony and Constitutional Reflections

The event commenced with Chief Justice Thakur unfurling the national flag and receiving a ceremonial police guard of honour, marking the patriotic occasion. In his speech, he emphasized that the Constitution continues to serve as the guiding force for India's democratic structure, providing essential direction to the judiciary. He elaborated on the core principles of democracy, stating that it integrates justice, liberty, equality, and rights, thereby enabling citizens to live fearlessly and pursue their aspirations.

Justice Thakur underscored that Republic Day symbolizes hope, trust, and renewal, while also reminding citizens of their responsibilities towards the nation, society, and future generations. He called for a collective endeavor to build a strong, united, and sustainable India, rooted in traditional values such as peace, humanity, truth, fraternity, and non-violence, which form the bedrock of national unity and stability.

Youth and Judicial Responsibilities in Nation-Building

Further elaborating on the path forward, the Chief Justice highlighted the pivotal role of youth in shaping the country's future. He expressed confidence that their creativity and technological prowess would be key drivers of progress. Simultaneously, he reaffirmed the judiciary's fundamental duty to ensure timely justice for all citizens, a responsibility that remains central to upholding constitutional values, supporting social transformation, and safeguarding civil liberties.

The Republic Day gathering was attended by several dignitaries, including Additional Solicitor General Challa Dhananjay, Advocate General D Srinivas, Bar Council Chairman Dwarakanath Reddy, and Advocates Association Vice-President KV Raghuveer, who also addressed the assembly. The event saw participation from numerous judges, the Registrar General, registrars, and members of the Bar Association and Bar Council, reflecting a unified commitment to the legal fraternity and national ideals.
