In a disturbing incident in Gaya, an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was seriously injured after allegedly drunk youths attacked a police team during night patrolling. According to a press release issued on Wednesday by SSP Sushil Kumar, ASI Vikram Paswan, posted at Rampur police station, sustained a fracture in his right arm and serious back injuries during the altercation. He is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital (ANMMCH). Police officials have stated that his condition is now stable, but the incident has raised concerns about police safety in the region.

The police team, led by Rampur SHO Dinesh Bahadur Singh, responded to reports of intoxicated persons creating a ruckus near Gewal Bigha. When officers attempted to disperse and pacify the group, the youths allegedly abused and attacked them. In the aftermath, two accused have been arrested and identified as Md Imtiyaz Alam and Meraj Alam. An FIR has been lodged against five named and 15 unidentified persons, with authorities scanning CCTV footage and conducting raids to apprehend the remaining suspects.
