A 50-year-old autorickshaw driver, Amarnath Yadav, succumbed to his injuries at Sion Hospital in Mumbai five days after being admitted following a road accident. The incident occurred on June 5 when Yadav, while driving on New Link Road, suddenly applied brakes, causing his vehicle to overturn. He was critically injured and later died on June 10.
Details of the Incident
According to a statement from Yadav's son, Rahul, the crash took place around 11:30 am on June 5. Yadav was traveling from Malad to Jogeshwari on the south-bound lane of New Link Road. Upon reaching the Oshiwara bus depot, he abruptly applied the brakes, leading the autorickshaw to turn turtle. Yadav sustained severe injuries to his forehead, eyes, nose, shoulder, ribs, hip, knee, and arm.
Medical Treatment and Demise
Yadav was rushed to Sion Hospital and admitted to the Intensive Coronary Care Unit (ICCU). After showing some improvement, he was moved to a general ward. However, his condition worsened, and he passed away at 11:30 pm on June 10. The Bangur Nagar Police were informed the next morning and recorded Rahul's statement.
Legal Implications
The Bangur Nagar Police had registered a case of rash driving and negligence against Yadav. With his death, the case will be closed. No other individuals were reported injured in the accident.
