Kottayam: In a disturbing incident, an autorickshaw driver was arrested on Saturday for the sexual assault of a married woman in Adoor, Pathanamthitta. The accused, identified as Vinod, 38, from Thattayil, Adoor, was taken into custody by the Adoor police.
Details of the Crime
According to police reports, Vinod allegedly raped the woman after drugging her with spiked juice. He also recorded nude visuals of her on his mobile phone. The victim, who was living separately from her husband, was subjected to repeated abuse over several months.
Threats and Blackmail
The complaint states that Vinod used the explicit visuals to blackmail the woman, threatening to release them if she did not comply with his demands. The first incident that led to the case occurred in February of the previous year. The accused continued to harass the woman both mentally and physically, leveraging the threat of exposing the visuals.
Retaliation for Informing Wife
In a further act of cruelty, the woman told the police that Vinod assaulted her in retaliation after she informed his wife about the abuse. This highlights the relentless nature of the harassment she endured.
The police have registered a case and are investigating the matter thoroughly. The accused has been remanded to judicial custody.
