Varanasi: In a significant development, Atrauliya police apprehended a 35-year-old woman, Renu Yadav, from her residence in Azamgarh district on Monday. She faces charges of misappropriating government grants through forged documents in the name of a madrassa.
Case Background
Azamgarh Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar stated on Monday that a complaint was lodged on March 19, 2025, based on an investigation report from the Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Subsequently, a case was registered against the manager and teachers of Madrasa Faizekaushar Nisban, located in Rukumalpur, Atrauliya. The accused individuals—Yadav, Riyaz Ahmad, Kiran Pal, and Anwar Ahmad—were booked on charges of cheating and forgery.
Arrest Details
On Monday morning, police teams conducting raids to apprehend the suspects received intelligence about Yadav's presence at her home. They swiftly raided the premises and took her into custody.
Investigation Findings
The probe uncovered that the madrassa's manager and teachers had prepared forged documents through a criminal conspiracy. They used these falsified records as genuine to embezzle government funds and grants, depriving the state of rightful revenue.
