Balcony Collapse at Gurugram Luxury Society Sparks Fear

Balcony Collapse at Gurugram Luxury Society

A section of a flat's balcony collapsed at 'Imperia Esfera Phase-2', a luxury residential complex in Sector-37D, Gurugram, on the morning of July 9, 2026. The incident occurred in Tower E, where the first-floor balcony suddenly gave way, producing a loud noise that alerted residents. Fortunately, although people were passing beneath the balcony at the time, no one was struck by the falling debris, averting a major tragedy. There are no reports of injuries.

Immediate Response and Investigation

Upon receiving information, teams from the police and local administration arrived at the scene. Officials cordoned off the entire area, initiated an investigation, and conducted an inspection. The cause of the collapse is under investigation.

Residents' Outrage and Allegations of Negligence

The incident sparked fear and intense outrage among society residents. They alleged that the collapse was not unexpected but a consequence of the builder's persistent negligence. Just last month, residents had staged a protest within the society complex against the dilapidated state of basic amenities.

Demand for Structural Audit

Residents appealed to the administration to have a 'structural audit' of the entire project conducted by an independent and reputed third-party agency. They emphasized that no tower can be considered completely safe until the structural integrity of the entire project has been verified.

“This is a deeply alarming incident. Although the flat was unoccupied, the falling debris could have injured other residents. The collapse of the slab has also damaged a pillar, compromising the safety of the entire tower. We will lodge a complaint with the police and demand an investigation by the DTP department,” said Hemant Kumar, president of the RWA of the society.
