Nashik: The Jalgaon police have arrested a 42-year-old woman, a Bangladesh national, for allegedly residing illegally in India. On Wednesday, she was produced before a court in Bhusawal, which remanded her to two-day police custody.
Case Registered Under Passports Act and Foreigners Act
The Bhusawal Bazaarpeth police registered a case against her under relevant sections of the Passports Act and the Foreigners Act. Authorities are investigating whether she was associated with other people from Bangladesh staying illegally in India.
Identification of the Accused
The woman has been identified as Farida Begam Mohammad Khan. According to the police, the accused had no documents to prove that she had legally entered India.
Details of Illegal Entry
During questioning, the woman stated that her sister had been residing in Bhusawal since 2007. When her sister returned to Bangladesh in 2009, she advised her to come to India for work. Subsequently, with the help of an agent who charged Rs 5,000, they crossed into India via a river route. Thereafter, she and her sister traveled to Bhusawal by train from Howrah.
Fraudulent Documents Obtained
Her sister assisted her in obtaining an Aadhaar card, Voter ID card, PAN card, bank passbook, and other documents through fraudulent means.
Sister's Demise
When asked about her sister, the accused revealed that her sister had married a man from Bhusawal. However, eight months ago, her sister and her husband died in a road accident at Malkapur in Buldhana.
Investigation Ongoing
The police stated that upon checking her cellphone, they discovered a certain mobile application commonly used by Bangladesh nationals for communication. The Bhusawal Bazaarpeth police are investigating the case further, as confirmed by Deputy SP (Bhusawal) Kedar Barbole.
