Woman Accuses Barabanki Sub-Inspector of Harassment and Molestation

A serious complaint has emerged from Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman has leveled grave allegations of mental harassment, molestation, and abuse of official position against a sub-inspector posted at a local police station. The case highlights concerns about police misconduct and the vulnerability of citizens.

Allegations of Pretext and Pressure

The woman stated that the officer began visiting her home in December 2024, claiming to investigate a registered family dispute. However, she alleged that his visits were a pretext for inappropriate behavior. According to her complaint, he repeatedly called her, pressured her to leave her husband, and tried to lure her with promises of securing a job, exploiting his official position.

Escalation to Physical Harassment

When she resisted his advances, the situation reportedly escalated. The woman claimed the sub-inspector subjected her to both mental and physical harassment. In a particularly distressing incident, she alleged that she was forcibly pulled into the officer's vehicle and molested, managing to escape only after raising an alarm and drawing attention to the situation.

Ongoing Intimidation and Threats

The harassment did not stop there. The victim further reported that the officer continued to visit her house, often when male family members were absent, and behaved indecently. Her family also alleged that they faced threats of false criminal cases being filed against her husband, adding a layer of intimidation to the ordeal.

Formal Complaints and Police Response

In response to these allegations, the victim and her family submitted formal complaints to senior police officials and utilized the chief minister's grievance portal to seek justice. Police authorities have acknowledged the matter, stating that it is currently under inquiry and that statements from involved parties are being recorded to ascertain the facts.

This case underscores the critical need for accountability within law enforcement and robust mechanisms to address such complaints promptly and fairly.
