Nose Severed in Barmer Family Feud Over Love Marriage, 7 Arrested
Barmer Nose-Cutting Attack: 7 Held After Family Clash

A brutal attack stemming from a long-standing family dispute over a love marriage has left two men grievously injured in Rajasthan's Barmer district. The incident, involving the cutting off of a man's nose, occurred on Wednesday evening in Jeevaniyon ki Dhani under the Gudamalani police station area.

Root of the Conflict: A Love Marriage

According to police officials, the animosity between the two families dates back approximately two and a half years. The conflict began when a man named Shravan Singh married a woman from the neighbouring family. This union was reportedly not accepted by the woman's family, sowing seeds of lasting enmity.

A Violent Evening and Brutal Retaliation

The simmering tension exploded into violence on Wednesday evening. Members of the woman's family allegedly launched an attack on Uk Singh, who is Shravan Singh's elder brother. During this assault, the attackers used a sharp weapon to sever Uk Singh's nose.

In a swift act of retaliation, members of Uk Singh's family targeted Dharam Singh from the opposing side. They assaulted him, causing serious injuries and fracturing his leg.

Police Response and Arrests

Following the violent clash, both injured men were initially treated at the Gudamalani hospital. Due to the severity of their wounds, Uk Singh was referred to Sanchore for advanced treatment, while Dharam Singh was referred to Jodhpur.

The Gudamalani police, along with a DSP, swiftly reached the scene to investigate. SP Narendra Singh Meena directed the formation of special teams to apprehend those involved. Demonstrating quick action, the police arrested seven accused within 24 hours—four from one side and three from the other.

Separate cases have been registered by the police based on Uk Singh's statement and the complaint filed by Dharam Singh. The investigation into the full sequence of events and the roles of all individuals is ongoing.
