Barmer Police Crack Sawairam Death Case, Arrest Wife and Lover for Abetment to Suicide
In a significant development in the Sawairam death case reported from Manglasar Konra in Jaisalmer district, Barmer police have arrested the deceased's wife and her alleged lover for abetment of suicide. The arrests were made following a week-long investigation that conclusively ruled out murder, pointing instead to sustained harassment as the driving factor behind the tragic incident.
Swift Investigation Uncovers Disturbing Details
Acting SP Nitish Arya confirmed that a dedicated team led by Circle Officer Jetharam Meghwal cracked the case within just seven days. Sawairam was found dead near his house on March 12 under initially suspicious circumstances, prompting his brother Madan to lodge a formal complaint alleging murder by the duo.
A medical board conducted a thorough post-mortem examination, and investigators stated that the findings definitively confirmed death by suicide. The probe revealed that Sawairam had been deeply distressed over his wife Samda Meghwal's alleged extramarital relationship with their neighbour, Shakardeen.
Pattern of Harassment and Mental Pressure
Police officials disclosed that frequent disputes had marred the household, with a particularly heated argument occurring on the day of the incident. During this altercation, threats were allegedly issued to Sawairam, exacerbating his mental anguish.
The extramarital relationship had persisted for nearly two years and had previously escalated to the point where it reached the local police station. At that time, a compromise was brokered, but the underlying tensions continued to fester.
"The deceased had become an obstacle," a senior officer explained, emphasizing that sustained mental pressure ultimately drove Sawairam to take the extreme step of ending his life. This pattern of harassment formed the crux of the abetment to suicide charges.
Legal Proceedings and Aftermath
A formal case has been registered against the accused, Samda Meghwal and Shakardeen, who are currently under interrogation by Barmer police. The tragic incident has left Sawairam survived by his wife and four children, highlighting the profound personal and familial consequences of the case.
The swift resolution by Barmer police underscores their commitment to thorough investigation and justice in sensitive matters. As the legal process unfolds, this case serves as a stark reminder of the devastating impacts of domestic discord and emotional harassment.
