Tragic Road Accident Claims Life of 12-Year-Old Boy in Barwani District
A devastating road accident in Barwani district resulted in the death of a 12-year-old boy and left 22 others injured on Tuesday. The incident occurred when a pickup vehicle transporting laborers overturned under circumstances attributed to reckless driving.
Details of the Fatal Crash
The accident took place near Salikala on the Agra-Mumbai National Highway, within the jurisdiction of the Nagalwadi police station. According to Sendhwa Sub-Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Ajay Waghmare, the vehicle was being operated at high speed in a negligent manner when its shaft broke, causing it to overturn dramatically.
Immediate rescue efforts were launched by passers-by, local villagers, and police personnel, who worked together to transport the injured to the government Civil Hospital in Sendhwa, located approximately 7 kilometers from the accident site. Medical professionals at the hospital declared the 12-year-old boy, identified as Sitesh from Jamli village, dead upon arrival.
Injuries and Aftermath
Of the 22 injured individuals, four sustained serious head injuries and required advanced medical care. These critically injured patients were subsequently referred to a hospital in Indore for specialized treatment. The remaining victims received medical attention at the Sendhwa facility for various injuries sustained in the crash.
Police authorities have registered a formal case in connection with the accident and have arrested the driver of the vehicle. The laborers were traveling from Jamli village to the Rajpur area for agricultural work when the tragedy unfolded.
