Bathinda Police Crack Down on Notorious Pardi Gang, Recover 7kg of Stolen Silver

In a significant law enforcement operation, the Bathinda police have successfully apprehended four key members of the infamous Pardi gang, known for orchestrating a series of thefts across the district and beyond. The arrests culminated in the recovery of a substantial 7 kilograms of silver, which was stolen from a local jewellery shop during the night of January 14-15.

Details of the Theft and Investigation

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Jyoti Yadav provided insights into the case, revealing that a formal complaint was lodged at the Canal Colony police station on January 15. The incident involved the theft of 7kg of silver along with an undisclosed amount of cash from a jewellery establishment in Bathinda. This prompted an intensive investigation by the authorities.

Police teams executed coordinated raids spanning several districts in Punjab and Haryana, including Hoshiarpur, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Ferozepur, Jind, Karnal, Mewat, and Rewari. These efforts led to a major breakthrough with the arrest of four individuals identified as:

  • Anil, also known as Ampuri, from Nyapura in Kota, Rajasthan
  • Govinda from Barnala
  • Omi, alias Tiger, from Barnala
  • Bikram Verma from Ahmedgarh in Sangrur

Gang's Modus Operandi and Widespread Activities

According to SSP Yadav, the accused had formed a sophisticated criminal network that operated across multiple states. The gang employed a deceptive strategy where both female and male members would conduct reconnaissance in towns hosting fairs. Posing as balloon sellers, they would scout potential targets before executing thefts at selected locations.

After committing the crimes, the gang members would swiftly depart the area, often traveling by train to evade detection and relocate to another region. Their criminal activities extended to numerous locations, including Mukerian in Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kurali, Balachaur, Gurdaspur, Samrala, and Ropar.

Ongoing Investigation and Future Steps

During interrogation, the arrested individuals provided information that led to the identification of additional suspects involved in the gang's operations. Police teams are currently conducting further raids across various districts to apprehend the remaining accused persons and dismantle the network completely.

This crackdown highlights the Bathinda police's commitment to tackling organized crime and ensuring public safety. The recovery of the stolen silver marks a significant victory in the fight against theft and illegal activities in the region.
