Beer Theft After Dhar Truck Overturn: 1400 Boxes Worth ₹13.3 Lakh Stolen
Beer theft after Dhar truck overturn, ₹13.3 lakh loss

In a bizarre incident in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district, unidentified thieves made off with a massive consignment of beer cans from an overturned truck late on Friday night. The Baag police have registered a case of theft against unknown persons for the audacious heist.

The Accident and the Discovery

The incident unfolded on the ghat road between Baag and Tanda, near Aagar village. A truck, loaded with a valuable cargo, was on its way from a government foreign liquor warehouse in Indore. Its destination was a composite liquor shop in Udaygarh, located in the Alirajpur district.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle in the ghat area, causing it to overturn on the roadside. Both the driver and the conductor sustained injuries in the crash. Passersby, seeing the accident, rushed the injured duo to the community health centre in Baag for treatment.

The Heist of the Century Boxes

Upon returning from the medical facility, the truck crew was met with a shocking scene. The cargo they had been transporting was gone. The truck had been carrying 1400 boxes of beer, with an estimated total value of a staggering ₹13.3 lakh. In the time it took for them to receive medical attention, opportunistic thieves had stripped the overturned vehicle of its entire alcoholic load.

The warehouse officials in Indore were immediately informed about the missing consignment. Following this, a formal complaint was lodged with the Baag police station.

Police Investigation Underway

Acting on the complaint filed by 48-year-old Rajlalan, a resident of Indore, the Baag police swiftly registered a case against unidentified persons. Sub-inspector Tosif Ali of Baag police station confirmed the details of the case to the media. The investigation is now focused on tracking down the thieves who exploited the accident situation.

Authorities are likely examining the scene for clues and may review footage from any nearby cameras. The sheer volume of the stolen goods—1400 boxes—suggests the thieves may have used another vehicle to cart away the beer, indicating a level of planning or quick mobilization.

This incident highlights the risks associated with transporting high-value goods, especially on treacherous ghat roads. It also raises questions about the security of accident sites in remote areas. The Baag police are pursuing all leads to recover the stolen liquor and apprehend those responsible for the theft.
