Belagavi: Man Murdered Over Suspicion, Accused Poses with Foot on Victim's Chest
In a disturbing incident that has sent shockwaves through the region, a man was allegedly murdered by a youth in Belagavi district over suspicions of being overly close to the accused's mother. The crime, which occurred late on Monday night, took a macabre turn when the accused reportedly posed for a photograph with his foot placed on the victim's chest after committing the act.
Details of the Gruesome Crime
The incident unfolded in Basidoni village, located in Savadatti taluk of Belagavi district. According to police sources, the victim, identified as Basavaraj Hosamani, aged 49, was known to behave in a friendly manner with a woman from the same village. This friendship allegedly angered the woman's son, Irayya Mathapati, who is 32 years old.
In a fit of rage, Mathapati blocked Hosamani's bike on the Savadatti-Ramdurg Road near Hoolikatti village. He then proceeded to murder Hosamani using a knife in a brutal attack. What followed was even more chilling: after killing the man, Mathapati stepped on the body and posed for a photograph, which has since gone viral on various social media platforms.
Police Action and Investigation
The deceased man's son filed a formal complaint at the Savadatti police station, leading to swift action by the authorities. The accused, Irayya Mathapati, was taken into custody shortly after the incident. A case has been registered at the Savadatti police station, and the investigation is currently underway to gather more details and evidence related to the crime.
This incident highlights the severe consequences of unchecked anger and the disturbing trend of criminals documenting their acts on social media, raising concerns about public safety and law enforcement challenges in rural areas.
Separate Tragic Accident Claims Three Lives
