Bengaluru DJ Faces Legal Action Over Bomb Remark at Airport
A 40-year-old disc jockey from Bengaluru has been formally charged after making a highly inappropriate reference to a bomb during a heated argument with airline staff at Kempegowda International Airport. The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 11, when the accused, identified as Rajatesh Bera, a native of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal, attempted to board a flight after the designated boarding time had elapsed.
Details of the Airport Altercation
According to the official complaint lodged by the airline personnel, Bera arrived at Gate No. 16 in Terminal 1 at approximately 6:10 AM. He was scheduled to travel from Bengaluru to Raipur on IndiGo flight 6E 978. However, upon reaching the gate, staff informed him that he had missed the boarding cut-off time and could not be allowed entry. In response, Bera reportedly made a reckless retort, questioning whether the flight would proceed if there was a bomb on board. This statement immediately raised serious security concerns, as any mention of bombs or threats is treated with utmost severity in aviation protocols to ensure passenger safety.
Immediate Security Response and Legal Proceedings
The airport authorities swiftly activated a bomb threat assessment committee (BTAC) to evaluate the potential risk and seriousness of the situation. Bera was promptly detained and handed over to the Kempegowda International Airport police for further investigation. A senior police officer confirmed that a case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 125, which pertains to acts endangering the life or personal safety of others, and Section 353, covering statements that could lead to public mischief.
