The case came to light after Karigouda S Patil filed a formal complaint with the authorities. Patil reported that several of his relatives had fallen victim to what he described as a "slick" and well-planned deception. Acting on his complaint, the Malleshwaram police registered a First Information Report (FIR) to initiate a probe into the fraudulent activities.

The accused allegedly posed as senior officials from KMF, a prominent state-run dairy cooperative. They reportedly approached job seekers with promises of lucrative employment within the federation. Exploiting the trust associated with a reputable government body, they convinced the aspirants to pay large sums of money upfront for these non-existent positions.
The scam, which was reported on 07 January 2026, highlights the audacious methods employed by these conmen. They presented themselves with such credibility that the victims, eager for secure government jobs, transferred the funds without suspecting foul play.
