Bengaluru Family Faces Arrest in Shocking Kidnapping Case Over Financial Dispute
In a disturbing incident from Bengaluru, a 31-year-old homemaker, her husband, and their associate have been taken into custody by the police. They are accused of kidnapping the homemaker's younger sister and her husband, stemming from a violent altercation over an unpaid loan. The victims were allegedly confined inside a residence, highlighting a severe family conflict turned criminal.
Details of the Arrest and Charges
Based on a formal complaint lodged by the victim, Pruthvi, who resides in the Dhruvadhama residential layout within Electronics City, Hebbagodi police swiftly acted. The authorities apprehended the elder sister, identified as Prafulla S, her husband Saleem Sheik, and their associate Beeresh. The charges filed against them include kidnapping, physical assault, and illegal detention, underscoring the gravity of the alleged offenses.
Background of the Loan Dispute
According to Pruthvi's account, the conflict originated from a handloan of Rs 9.5 lakh that she had taken earlier, with interest accruing. She had been making monthly instalments of Rs 75,000 and had repaid a total of Rs 2.7 lakh by June of the previous year. Facing financial difficulties, Pruthvi requested additional time from her brother-in-law, Saleem Sheik, to settle the remaining amount. However, this plea was met with hostility, as her sister and Sheik reportedly shouted at her for the delay. Despite paying an additional Rs 2.5 lakh in subsequent instalments, tensions escalated when she asked for an extension until the end of June this year to clear the dues.
Violent Confrontation and Kidnapping
The situation took a violent turn in the early hours of April 15, when Prafulla visited Pruthvi's home. Accompanied by Sheik and Beeresh, they allegedly assaulted Pruthvi and her husband Abhijeet, issuing severe threats for the non-payment. The accused expressed anger over a police complaint Pruthvi had filed in June last year, accusing Prafulla and Sheik of harassment. Shockingly, they threatened that they had associates willing to commit murder for as little as Rs 500, intensifying the fear factor.
Forcing Pruthvi and Abhijeet into their vehicle, the accused transported them to Sheik's residence in Nagarabhavi. There, the couple was locked up and subjected to further threats, creating a harrowing ordeal of confinement and intimidation.
Release and Legal Action
Eventually, the victims were released with a stern warning not to report the incident to the police or disclose it to anyone. Defying this, Pruthvi filed a zero FIR with the Chandra Layout police, a mechanism allowing complaints to be registered anywhere, which was then transferred to the Hebbagodi police. Promptly, the officers arrested all three accused individuals, ensuring legal proceedings are initiated.
This case sheds light on the dangers of familial disputes escalating into criminal acts, emphasizing the importance of legal recourse in such situations. The Bengaluru police's quick response highlights their commitment to addressing such serious offenses in the community.
