Bengaluru Man Arrested for Machete Threats

A 42-year-old man was taken into custody in Bengaluru after he allegedly roamed the streets wielding a long machete in the Neelasandra area of central Bengaluru on May 26. The accused, identified as Syed Mustan, a resident of MG Garden, reportedly threatened passersby and demanded money.

Incident Details

According to the complaint filed by head constable Syed Moin Ulla, he and his colleague Venkatesh S were patrolling the area when they observed Mustan carrying a machete. He was brandishing the weapon at people and demanding cash. The situation escalated when Mustan approached Mohammed Akram, a 62-year-old tea stall owner, and demanded money. When Akram refused, Mustan waved the machete at him and threatened to kill him if he did not comply.

Police Action

The police officers quickly intervened, overpowering the accused and confiscating the weapon. During interrogation, Mustan confessed that he was threatening people to make easy money and instill fear in the locality. A case has been registered under the Arms Act. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
