Bengaluru city police on Sunday arrested two youths and a juvenile on charges of robbing a student of his mobile phone in Ramamurthy Nagar earlier in the day. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, highlighting the rising concerns over street crime in the city.
Details of the Incident
The victim, identified as Dheeraj, is a BBA student at a private college and resides in Banjara Layout. According to police reports, Dheeraj was waiting for his friends near the Outer Ring Road around 3 a.m. The group had planned to travel to Hoskote to enjoy biryani. While waiting, three individuals ambushed him and snatched his mobile phone. During the struggle, one of the assailants stabbed Dheeraj in the hand. Passersby alerted the police and rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where he is currently recovering from his injuries.
Arrests Made
The investigating officer confirmed that two of the accused, Bhuvan and Mithun, both aged 23, are residents of Janakiram Layout. The third accused is a juvenile, whose identity has not been disclosed due to legal restrictions. All three have been taken into custody and are being questioned. The stolen mobile phone has been recovered from their possession.
The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including robbery and causing hurt. Further investigation is underway to determine if the accused are involved in similar crimes in the area.
