The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Yellow Alert for the Kanpur Division, warning of severe heatwave conditions over the next 24 hours. According to the alert, all districts within the division are expected to experience extreme heat, with no possibility of thunderstorms.

Weather Conditions

The sky will remain completely clear, and strong, dry, hot north-westerly winds will blow across the region. The maximum temperature is likely to reach up to 43 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will stay around 30 degrees Celsius. In Kanpur Dehat, temperatures may range between 43 and 44 degrees Celsius.

Recent Temperature Trends

On Sunday, the mercury rose by 1.5 degrees Celsius, with the maximum temperature recorded at 41.5 degrees Celsius at the CSA weather observatory. The minimum temperature also increased to 25.6 degrees Celsius. Due to the severe heat, maximum relative humidity decreased. North-westerly winds swept through the city at speeds of 3.5 to 6.9 kilometers per hour, and the heat index fluctuated between 45 and 49 degrees Celsius.

Dr. S N Sunil Pandey, a weather expert from CSA University, confirmed that dry weather accompanied by intense sunshine is expected on Monday. He warned that due to the dangerous heat index, it is advisable to minimize outdoor activities between 11 AM and 4 PM to avoid heat stroke, exhaustion, and dehydration.
