A 35-year-old factory worker was killed and three youths were injured in two separate road accidents in Bengaluru on Monday, according to police.
Fatal Accident Near Himalaya Store
The deceased, identified as Shankar, was on his way to work at the Himalaya store when a speeding vehicle struck his two-wheeler near the store premises. He sustained severe injuries and died on the spot, police said. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the accident.
“Shankar was a resident of a nearby slum and had been working at the store for the past five years. He is survived by his wife and two children,” a police officer said, requesting anonymity.
Second Crash Leaves Three Youths Injured
In a separate incident, three youths were injured when their motorcycle collided with a car at an intersection in the same area. The injured were identified as Ramesh (22), Suresh (21), and Mahesh (20), all residents of a nearby locality.
“The youths were rushed to a nearby hospital, where their condition is stated to be stable. A case has been registered against the car driver,” police said.
The accidents occurred within a span of two hours on Monday morning, causing traffic disruptions in the area.
Police Investigation Underway
Police have registered separate cases under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and are investigating both accidents. They are examining CCTV footage from nearby cameras to identify the hit-and-run driver in the first incident.
“We appeal to the public to provide any information about the vehicles involved in these accidents,” a police official said.
