Bhilwara SHO shifted after video of abusing complainant goes viral

A station house officer (SHO) in Bhilwara district has been shifted to lines after a video purportedly showing him abusing and threatening a complainant in a land dispute went viral on social media, police said on Wednesday.

Background of the Incident

The incident comes days after a separate controversy involving a Rajasthan minister allegedly threatening police personnel. The video, purportedly featuring Baneda SHO Bachchhraj Chaudhary, surfaced late Tuesday. It is linked to a land dispute in which both parties approached the Baneda police station with complaints.

Details from the Video

In the video, the officer is allegedly seen reprimanding a complainant, Prabhulal, and threatening him with legal action. The authenticity of the video and the circumstances under which it was recorded are currently under investigation.

SHO's Response

Chaudhary denied the allegations, claiming the clip was selectively edited. He said police called both parties to the station in an attempt to resolve the dispute through counselling and discussion.

Police Action

Bhilwara Superintendent of Police (SP) Sagar Rana said an inquiry has been ordered under the supervision of an additional superintendent of police. Pending the probe, Chaudhary has been shifted to lines. SP Rana added that using abusive language in place of counselling will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
